Yavapai (Pronounced Yav-a-pie) County is larger than many entire states in the Northeast United States, totalling 8,128 square miles. Ranging from Prescott (Pres-cut, rhymes with biscuit.) to Black Canyon City to the Red Rocks of Sedona (Su-doe-na) to Camp Verde (Vur-dee) and Cottonwood and the ghost town of Jerome, you can travel (in the space of half of a day) from the high mountains to the high desert and never leave Yavapai County. You could play in the snow in Prescott one morning, and then go pottery hunting (Don't take it! Just look.) in Black Canyon City by lunchtime. |
